Club Med Turkoise
Club Med Turkoise is back. In 2017 Hurricane Irma hit the island of Turks and Caicos. Many hotel properties including Club Med had considerable damage. After much reconstruction and rehab, Club Med Turkoise is back! Book your room and enjoy an all-inclusive vacation.
Providenciales
During the first week of April 2018, I packed my bags and hopped on Southwest Airlines flights from Chicago to Ft. Lauderdale to Providenciales. Southwest Airlines recently began flying to Turks and Caicos, and the ticket prices are very reasonable. Arriving in the airport in Providenciales was chaotic.
The customs line was exceptionally long after approximately six flights came around the same time. Waiting for a passport stamp was over 90 minutes. Hopefully, the customs officials will work out the kinks very soon because the island is becoming a top-rated tourist attraction.
Grace Bay
Club Med Turkoise is on Grace Bay. TripAdvisor votes it as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I read and viewed many photos of Grace Bay; however, seeing it in person is more amazing. The colors of the water are a vivid turquoise! The scenery is magnificent. It is indeed another one of God’s masterpiece.
The Club Med village is on prime property. Fortunately, it was the first resort on Grace Bay, so it had the opportunity to choose the best. Recently, Club Med Turkoise received its certification as a four trident resort. The misfortune of Hurricane Irma gave Club Med the chance to make significant improvements to the rooms, install a new swimming pool, the grounds, and more. Also available at this adult only resort are excursions, watersports, snorkeling, scuba diving, tennis courts, water aerobics, and some spa services.
For reference, Club Med staff are called “GOs”, or Gentils Organisateurs (Gracious/Nice Organizers). Clients are “GMs”, or Gentils Membres (Gracious/Nice Guests/Members). The resort is known as a village. The resort manager is called the Chef de Village (Village Chief). You will see these terms throughout the review.
Rooms
Rooms are not extravagant, but they are clean. With the beautiful beach, I didn’t spend very much time in my room except to sleep and shower. Basic and deluxe rooms are available. Deluxe rooms have a balcony and ocean view. I stayed in a basic room, had an ocean view and barely spent time in it.
Food
All inclusive means all you can eat and drink as much as you want. This village has one major restaurant and a smaller snack bar called Sharkies. The main restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food is prepared fresh. You can eat more than you should, or you can make healthier choices. There’s much to choose every day. I brought home seven extra pounds!
Customer Service
Overall service was decent. Some of the G.O.’s can be friendlier to the guests. Some didn’t make eye contact or say hello. As a former Club Med G.O., my perception of friendly customer service maybe over the top.
Some of my travel buddies are also former G.O.s, and we noticed some of the team members did not mingle with the guests at all. For example, when I arrived at the village, I was given my room number and wristband key. It’s a huge resort. The welcome team told me my room number. Then one pointed and said, “walk straight that way to the end, and you’ll find your room.”

There were some bartenders who barely uttered a word nor smiled. The hostesses and a few other team members were fantastic. The Chef du Village was visible and friendly. The clientele was an older crowd, and the Club Med team members are much younger. Perhaps the over 45 generation’s expectations of customer service are very different than the G.O. Team. Maybe additional training is something Club Med should consider and address.
Total Experience
My total experience at Club Med Turkoise was excellent. The beautiful Grace Bay beach makes it all go away. Every morning I serenely walked the beach and forgot about all the cares of my world. I listened to the waves and felt the warm Caribbean sun on my skin.
I never wanted to leave! If you desire to see one of the gorgeous beaches in the world, Turks and Caicos is a place to visit.
Beautiful! I must put this in my 2go list!
