Book a Trip to Jordan
One thing on my bucket list was to see Petra, a Wonder of the World. So, I did some research, and then I spontaneously booked a trip through Gate 1 Travel. For 12 days I would have an opportunity to experience a journey across Jordan. I could hardly wait for the adventure to begin.
Flying to Jordan
Day 1
On a rainy October evening, I flew a non-stop flight out of Chicago on Royal Jordanian Airlines. The 787 Dreamliner plane was smooth as butter, and the crew gave fantastic service. A little over 12 hours, we landed safely in Amman. Once through customs, I checked in Crowne Plaza Hotel in Amman. It is a beautiful hotel. Fortunately, my arrival was a day before tours began, so there was time to relax and enjoy the hotel spa and pool.
Day 2
The following day I met the tour guide and my small group travel mates. Our group consisted of 17 Americans from various states. Overall, the group meshed very well throughout the journey across Jordan.
Al-Salt and Amman City
Day 3
The first day of touring began with an Amman City tour and Al-Salt, a historical old city. We took a short bus ride to Al-Salt. It is a historical city that was an important trading hub from the late 19th century until early 20th century. Our group visited the Historical Old Salt Museum, an Arabic souk, and some city streets to view heritage buildings made of yellow sandstone.
Your trip sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing.
This sounds like an incredible trip! I would enjoy every experience you had on your tour, including the Bedouin dinner but especially to see Petra and Bethany. It’s wonderful how tour groups have opened up possibilities for the solo traveller.
What an exciting trip! Your tour seems to have hit all the historical and cultural notes of the region. Imagine seeing Petra in person! Or standing on the shores of the Jordan River. Or eating a Bedouin meal! It’s wonderful how guided tours have opened up so many opportunities for the single traveller.
