Lighthouses are a big part of the landscape of Portland, Maine. During my visit, I experienced the beautiful site of Fort Williams in Maine. It is a former military installation from 1873 until 1964. The iconic lighthouse remains and is seen on many postcards and tourism sites. The views are gorgeous and should be seen with your own eyes. I also viewed the Bug Lighthouse.

Visit the Victoria Mansion that was built in 1858 and 1860. The mansion houses over 90% of its original furnishing. Walk along downtown Portland and also view a statue of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and visit the Wadsworth Longfellow House.

Take a ferry or sail to six islands including Peaks Island, Little Diamond Island, Great Diamond Island, Long Island, Chebeague Island, and Cliff Island.
